The Guardian of the Temple – opus II
A show by Compagnie La Machine
Toulouse, 25 to 27 October 2024
This major street show, a full-scale urban opera created by François Delaroziere and La Compagnie La Machine, is a sequel to the first part of “The Guardian of the Temple”, held in autumn 2018. This new opus, organised by Toulouse Métropole and designed by Compagnie La Machine, will be held in Toulouse city centre from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 October 2024.
Asterion the Minotaur will wander through the streets of “his” city and will be joined on his journey by other Machines, some of which may be new… See you in Toulouse in October for this extraordinary show in the heart of the Pink City, accessible to all.
8 Tips to Fully Enjoy the Show “The Guardian of the Temple – The Door of the Darkness
- To get to the city center, prioritize eco-friendly transportation. If you’re coming by bike, 7 supervised bike parks will be set up around the main perimeter of the show. Take the metro or tram to reach the city center and get an event ticket from Tisséo, available from October 25 to 27 at the discounted rate of 3€ for 2 trips.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the routes and stages will be scattered across the city center, and you can expect to cover quite a bit of ground on foot.
- Grab the show booklet: the performance tells a story, and each scene is unique. However, you can enjoy the scenes independently and still understand the key elements of the narrative with the help of the booklet, available in print form at the Toulouse Tourist Office or for download on the website legardiendutemple.toulouse.fr.
- Venture off the beaten path: the main fixed stages are the ones that attract the biggest crowds, but the awakenings and city routes are equally impactful experiences.
- Lose yourself in the Toulouse labyrinth: we intentionally don’t provide specific schedules to prevent large crowds at any given time. Don’t hesitate to wander around, interact with the machines, and exchange with other spectators to guide you or catch up on scenes you might have missed.
- If you’re with children: it’s best to skip the strollers and use baby carriers instead. The crowds and the large machines can be overwhelming. The morning scenes are a great alternative, as they tend to be less crowded.
- If you have a disability: visit the website legardiendutemple.toulouse.fr. Head to the accessibility section to learn about all the accommodations available to you during the show.
- Live in the moment! While it may be tempting to capture the best photos or videos of these extraordinary moments, nothing beats locking eyes with the Minotaur or feeling the breath of one of the machines. Put your phones away for a while and let yourself be carried away by the story of the three protagonists.
