LUMIERE SUR LE BAZACLE

As you get closer to the working turbines, you'll learn that power flows here, and so do the fish, and that in the past, these lucrative mills were managed by the first shareholders in history.

During your visit to the Espaces EDF Bazacle, you'll learn all about the history of the site. Formerly a ford over the Garonne, the site saw the installation of mills managed by the first shareholders in history. Toulouse was indeed the birthplace of the first public limited company!

The mills disappeared, but another industry emerged with hydroelectricity. In 1888, a power station replaced the mills and supplied the first lighting network in Toulouse. This hydroelectric power station, now owned by EDF, is still in operation: take a walk through it to learn more about the turbines, alternators and transformers that supply electricity to up to 3,000 homes.
But this is not the end of the site's surprises, as you'll end up on the terrace. It's an unbeatable vantage point from which to observe the city and the flora and fauna along the banks of the Garonne.

In the factory area, it is compulsory to use the hard hats provided on site. As part of the vigipirate plan, on the day of the visit each participant will be required to show an original form of identification, failing which access to the site will be refused.
