CAP SUR TOULOUSE METROPOLE : TOURNEFEUILLE

Once a modest village surrounded by vineyards, Tournefeuille was ravaged by the Wars of Religion at the end of the 16th century. It was under Louis XIII and then in the 18th century that the castle, church and village were reborn.

Then, with the help of Airbus, the town experienced strong growth in the 1980s. Its cultural effervescence is such that we've designed this tour to go against the grain of conventional tours, giving you a chance to "experience the town", with its historic and living heritage!

For the history, you'll enter the Château de Gramart (now the town hall) to admire its unsuspected treasures: wrought-iron railings, 18th-century wallpaper and garden. Then, after a stroll around some of the most beautiful 18th and 19th century facades, take a look at the intriguing bell tower wall of Saint-Pierre church.

For a taste of living heritage, head for the cinema, whose recent architecture is inspired by the old water mill located just behind it.With its brick walls, glass roof and fireside sofas, it's easy to see how Tournefeuille can combine its ancient heritage with modern-day conviviality.
