About

For some fifty years now, the Cinémathèque de Toulouse has been bringing cinema and its history together in all its forms and at all times.

Founded in 1964 by a group of film enthusiasts led by Raymond Borde, a member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) since 1965 and currently chaired by Agnès Jaoui, the Cinémathèque de Toulouse is one of France's three main film archives and the second-largest film library in France. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC), the City of Toulouse, the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council and the Occitanie Region, it holds over 50,000 inventoried prints, 100,000 posters (the largest collection of cinema posters in France), 600,000 photographs and 20,000 books on cinema, and pursues a policy of restoring and promoting film heritage to a wide audience.

The Cinémathèque de Toulouse offers themed cycles, retrospectives and festivals, as well as meetings with invited guests, screenings and workshops for schoolchildren. Items from its collections are presented at exhibitions.

Outside its walls, the Cinémathèque de Toulouse shines thanks to its regular presence at numerous festivals, cinémathèques, national stages and film programming venues in France and abroad.
