With the *Canticus Arcticus* by the Finnish composer Rautavaara, the Orchestre du Capitole looks up to the sky to engage in a sumptuous dialogue with the birds, right through to the final movement dedicated to migrating swans. On the other side of the Baltic, the violin concerto *Distant Light* by the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks continues the journey with a poetry that will blossom beneath the incandescent bow of the Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovich. Stravinsky’s famous *The Firebird* follows Ivan through every stage of his pursuit of the fantastical creature, right up to the sublime final apotheosis.
