PARC DU CHÂTEAU DE FONBEAUZARD (RENDEZ-VOUS AUX JARDINS)

Restored as a landscaped park in the 19th century by the family of Petites filles modèles (Comtesse de Ségur), this park of around 20 hectares, designed in the Romantic period on a regular grid, features wide grassy paths, a large natural meadow and century-old trees. In the middle, beneath its large plane tree, a small arched brick building houses a captured spring: this is the "wooded fountain" from which the Occitan name Fonbeauzard derives. Reminiscent of its former function, the courtyard of the outbuildings features a poultry pen, a succession of small gardens enclosed either by a hedge or by different species of fruit bushes, with a mix of bulbous plants, perennials and rose bushes. Kitchen garden with cultivated tubs, compost and frames.
