MON FRÈRE

Christian is deaf. He is the director’s brother (whom he sometimes plays).
He tells his story in sign language, accompanied on stage by the voice of his interpreter (his French Sign Language interpreter, on this occasion).
As he tells his story – his daily struggles interwoven with joys and sorrows – he also recounts the history, distinctive features and struggles of his community and his language.
Amidst the words drawn in the air, in the vibrations of Christian’s body – the main character constantly ‘held back’ by circumstances – lie Christian’s inexorable zest for life and his interpreter’s irrepressible need to communicate.
