About

Following his brilliant debut show *Heimweh / Mal du pays*, Gabriel Sparti returns with his latest production. An absurd and incisive exploration of the workings of fascism.

What risk could there possibly be in putting together an amateur choir in preparation for a major concert? On the face of it, none at all – it’s a wonderful, joyful opportunity to breathe new life into traditional songs and share the culture behind them… provided the conductor isn’t part of a European cultural project with far more ambitious aims! It is this subtle, gradual shift that intrigues Gabriel Sparti, who has opted for a musical theatre piece in the vein of Christoph Marthaler. From carefree happiness to authoritarianism, the director draws inspiration from real-life instances where folklore was hijacked and transformed into fascist propaganda. A play that is as funny as it is terrifying, exploring the threats that loom all around us.
