LES VOYAGES DE L'AÉROFLORALE II

Welcome aboard L'Aéroflorale II, an extraordinary flying greenhouse that invites you on a journey through science, poetry and imagination. After criss-crossing five continents, from Buenos Aires to Montreal, Hamburg to Santiago de Chile, this astonishing living machine will be stopping off at the Halle de La Machine in Toulouse throughout the year.

Imposing and fascinating, Aéroflorale II rises to a height of 15 metres, with a wingspan of 10 metres, and embodies a feat of artistic engineering. Standing on its four metal legs, topped by its central greenhouse and aerostatic balloons, it looks ready to take to the skies again at any moment. On board, an imaginary expedition of research explorers travels the world in search of plants capable of producing electricity: phytovoltaics, a science that is as real as it is surprising.

Around the greenhouse, discover a spectacular botanical laboratory, populated by unusual machines: some turn apples red, others caress plants or bug them. Here, living things become actors, observed, experimented with and staged with humour and delicacy.

The experience continues in a luxuriant plant forest, made up of more than 1,300 plants carefully installed in, on and around Aéroflorale II. Ficus, Monstera, Philodendrons and Begonias form an abundant plant setting, tended by the enthusiasts at Atelier Méridiem. A photographic exhibition completes the visit, retracing the adventures of this incredible expedition to the four corners of the globe.
