Published as a serial in 1844, Alexandre Dumas’s *The Three Musketeers* immediately became a global phenomenon, elevating the motto ‘All for one, one for all’ to the pinnacle of fame. Adapting this masterpiece for the ballet: the challenge appealed to Benjamin Pech, who presents his first production for the Opéra national du Capitole. A former principal dancer with the Paris Opera and currently deputy director of the Rome Opera Ballet, the choreographer champions a style in which the classical vocabulary becomes a contemporary vehicle for emotion. He demonstrates that the purity of a modernised classical language can transcend the ages. With *The Three Musketeers*, he takes on a narrative ballet that is perfectly suited to him: a gallery of colourful characters in which each performer becomes an actor. For this is what drives him: the theatricality of dance, the romanticism of movement.
