JOURNÉES DU PATRIMOINE AUX ABATTOIRS

The Musée des Abattoirs is housed in a 19th-century heritage building, which hosts exhibitions of modern art and works by contemporary artists.

This weekend, it’s opening its doors to you!

Come and discover the building’s history, its transformation into a museum of modern and contemporary art, and the creation of a room in the basement specifically designed to display Pablo Picasso’s stage curtain.

In May 1936, Pablo Picasso was commissioned to create a large curtain for the celebrations marking the first ‘14 July’ since the Popular Front came to power. This curtain served as the backdrop for an act of Romain Rolland’s play, *Le 14 Juillet*. Donated to the city by the artist, Les Abattoirs is delighted to present one of the most magnificent works in its collection.
