EVA OLLIKAINEN / BEATRICE RANA

The composer of the Hungarian Dances infuses his ambitious Piano Concerto No. 2 with a touch of Gypsy flair, a work that stands out in many other respects as well. As for Lutosławski, he chooses Polish melodies as a framework, which he weaves in his own distinctive way in the Concerto for Orchestra. Both composers feature prominently in the favourite repertoires of the guest artists for this concert: Eva Ollikainen is passionate about contemporary music, whilst Beatrice Rana, who is well acquainted with Brahms’s works – which she also performs in recitals – was keen to perform this piece for her debut with the Orchestre du Capitole.
