Alchemy will once again take centre stage with his *Métamorphoses* for 23 string instruments, a poignant song composed in 1945. Other strings – plucked this time – will resonate beneath the fingers of Toulouse-born Thibaut Garcia, winner of the ‘Revelation’ award in the Instrumental Soloist category at the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2019. The four dance-like movements that make up Rodrigo’s *Fantaisie pour un gentilhomme* envelop the orchestra in a light and warmth that then blossom fully with Beethoven’s dazzling Symphony No. 4, displaying a level of optimism rarely associated with the composer.
