When she is asked to dance at her Uncle Bob’s funeral, Solène Weinachter wonders: what will her loved ones do or say at her own funeral?
What music will be played there? What will happen, in the end? Inspired by these reflections, the choreographer decides to dedicate a solo to death. AFTER ALL blends dance, theatre, storytelling and comedy to explore this subject that is so common and yet so taboo. As Solène Weinachter explores various mourning ceremonies and rituals, at times recounting what might seem like minor details – such as new
mushroom-shaped coffins – she creates a welcoming space and time in which to confront loss and reflect, together, on the inevitable finitude of our lives.
