About

A major work of modernism in Toulouse, this memorial to the war of 1939-1945 is sure to make an impression.

The entrance is symbolised by an astonishing sculpture made of metal tubes. This memorial evokes the Resistance and invites visitors to reflect on the tragic events of the Second World War. The route, deliberately designed to make a lasting impression, is a tunnel punctuated by crypts that evoke the deportees and those shot... Step by step, you go underground, until you are freed at the Jardin des Plantes.

Every year at 11am on 19 August, the sun shines on a plaque commemorating the liberation of Toulouse.

This collective work by the Atelier des Architectes Associés (the 3A) is remarkable for its design, which combines architecture, sculpture and audiovisuals.

The Monument à la Gloire de la Résistance offers guided and self-guided tours and events throughout the year. From free guided tours tracing the history of the building to temporary exhibitions, it is a place of remembrance that still hosts ceremonies today. To guarantee access to the site, you can book your free ticket online at the Monuments de Toulouse ticket office.
