MUSEE DU VIEUX TOULOUSE
Free with the Tourism Pass
About
A veritable goldmine for lovers of Toulouse, this museum invites you to take a journey into the city's past through a host of objects collected by the Association des Toulousains de Toulouse since 1907.
The Musée du Vieux-Toulouse displays objects evoking the city's history from Antiquity to the 20th century in the Hôtel Dumay, a magnificent Renaissance building.
The exhibition rooms have been laid out like cosy 18th-century drawing rooms, giving the place an old-fashioned charm. Each room deals with a particular theme: the development of the town, former institutions, local artists, vanished monuments, customs, etc.
Costumes, crockery and other everyday objects provide a very real insight into the daily lives of Toulousans in the past.
The members of the association know how to liven up the visit with little anecdotes, which they are happy to share.
