Véra, an astrophysicist, is giving a wide-ranging talk on her favourite subject: Proxima B, an exoplanet orbiting a red dwarf – a star that is smaller and cooler than our Sun.

There’s no video projector here. With the help of her assistant, Steven, she plans to use a series of striking visual effects to take the audience to a higher level of understanding.

Their mission: to create the setting of an exoplanet and stage performances designed to be spectacular, so that the audience understands astrophysics without even realising it.

Distressed by the vastness of space and time, Véra sometimes finds herself doubting her own existence and the world she sees around her.

The sudden arrival of Véro, a long-standing colleague with whom she has a complex relationship, does nothing to ease her anxieties.

Unless everyone has slipped into the fourth dimension...

Driven by a sense of urgency unique to each act, the situations veer into the absurd and the comic, whilst the characters explode, clash and take on unexpected roles. As the performance progresses, the social strata multiply, highlighting individualism, the omnipresence of surveillance and pressure, and strategies of manipulation. The haunting and imaginary George Kaplan turns out to be a satire designed to question the power of fiction over reality and to examine our contemporary ills: how far can we go for a cause, a job, or a thirst for power? Can we maintain our personal quest whilst part of a collective? To what extent do microcosms and atmospheres influence our personalities? ‎
