About
Reduced to a mere fantasy or relegated to the margins of society, the queer body mostly attempts to escape the norms that seek to be imposed upon it. This reflection lies at the heart of Andrea Givanovitch’s work, in which she views leather as a material that is as much about sound as it is about texture. Having performed solo in *Untitled (Somme Faggy Gestures)* and subsequently in *Leather Better*, the choreographer-performer is this time joined by two dancers to explore the representation of gender. In this performance, punctuated by friction and breath, they seek together to liberate their bodies, constrained by the weight of their leather costumes – a metaphor for social and political norms.
