It is through a fantastical narrative that at times veers into the absurd, with its array of colourful characters – including a runaway bride, a beatboxer in love and other such characters, that the feminist author Mélissa Zehner continues her quest for a form of writing that offers solace, putting words to acts of silencing.

It is through the journeys of characters with chaotic backstories – some of whom are regulars at psychiatric hospitals – that *Les Palpitantes* seek to understand the impact of domestic violence on our bodies and our minds. How does society address the psychological suffering caused by trauma, and how does it treat it?
And, more broadly, what are we to do with our anger?

It is therefore through the power of words, through the use of raw and visceral rhythms, but also through gentle songs with modern touches, that Les Palpitantes seek to summon onto the stage the ghosts that haunt us; the damned whom we fear, the dead madwomen, and, of course, the angry little girls who live within us.
