About

Step back in time to 19th-century Toulouse on an immersive tour led by Augustine Lavoisier, a schoolteacher dressed in period costume and a descendant of the illustrious chemist Antoine Lavoisier.

Follow in their footsteps along the banks of the Garonne to discover how scientific advances transformed the daily lives of Toulouse’s residents in this new quest for public hygiene, right through to the introduction of urban improvements. Through historical anecdotes and engaging stories, relive the era when science and the city joined forces to improve public health, whilst gaining an insight into the issues and challenges faced by women at that time.
