Inside the Saint-Antonin Chapel, discover an exceptional collection of medieval paintings that bear witness to nearly 700 years of history. By examining the decorative elements, pigments and techniques used, the tour highlights the vital role of colour in medieval religious architecture, as well as the messages conveyed by these depictions.

This tour also explores the history of the building and the various restoration campaigns that have ensured the preservation of this heritage to the present day. Combining art history with heritage appreciation, this tour encourages analysis and understanding of medieval craftsmanship.

To complement the tour, you are invited to try your hand at the techniques used by medieval craftsmen by decorating a floor tile. On a white terracotta tile, create a freehand design or use stencils inspired by the medieval ornamental repertoire before adding colour.

This hands-on activity provides a better understanding of creative processes and puts into perspective the role of colour in medieval buildings, where colour adorned walls and stained-glass windows as well as floor elements. The workshop thus serves as a practical and participatory extension of the heritage experience.
