About

The Tourist Office is celebrating the event by organising tours devised by these multi-faceted ambassadors, who are experts on the region, a bit of a backpacker and some fantastic speakers. Are you coming?

Artists such as Roman Opalka, Sophie Calle and Jean Paul Marcheschi have installed contemporary, poetic and unexpected works in the Toulouse metro. Discreet, you may never have seen them before. Discover them from station to station!

The Pink City is a metropolis that can still be described as "a city on a human scale". On the surface, you can walk or cycle through it, taking in its history, atmosphere and lights, but for once, we invite you to explore it from below, underground, in a visit teeming with parallel universes thanks to the works of art in the metro...

Tisséo doesn't just run the city's public transport system, it also tries to connect users with their urban environment. So, in 1993, when the first metro line A was inaugurated, Tisséo collectivités introduced a policy of enhancing public space with a selection of artists whose universes are curiously interwoven into the metro stations.

After familiarising yourself with the history of the metro in general, and the Toulouse metro in particular, you'll dive right in with a presentation of works whose shapes, colours and textures are articulated in new ways between the walls, escalators and passers-by. These artists also invite you to reappropriate this sometimes frightening underground space. From Sophie Calle's sweet notes to Marcheschi's calligraphic vault of heaven, this tour is an artistic mediation that goes against the grain of the usual museum visit...

A total of 48 works of art can be seen on lines A and B of the metro, as well as on the tram line, covering some forty kilometres in all. Today, this network is considered to be the largest contemporary art gallery in France! On this tour, the guide chooses a selection of artists and you travel together on the most artistic transport line in the country!

Tour in partnership with Tisséo.
