Museums of art and history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step back in time at the Saint-Raymond museum<\/a>, the archaeological museum<\/strong> of Toulouse. Next to the basilica of Saint-Sernin, this charming museum and its little garden occupies a former university college from the XVI Century. Whilst it focuses on the historic past of the Ville Rose, it is nevertheless resolutely modern and original in terms of its scenography and exhibitions. The museum reopens on 3 April 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lovers of \u00ab High Art \u00bb and sculpture should head to the Augustins museum<\/a>, the museum of fine-arts<\/strong> of the city of Toulouse. Housed within an ancient XIV Century monastery, its collections are presented in magnificent rooms and a medieval cloister. Here you can admire the great names in the history of art from the Middle Ages to the early XX Century. Not to be missed: the room displaying one of the finest collections of Romanesque capitals in France. The museum will reopen on Friday, 19 December 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Bemberg Collection<\/a> exhibits paintings and decorative arts from the 16th to the 19th century<\/strong> in Toulouse\u2019s finest private mansion, the H\u00f4tel d\u2019Ass\u00e9zat, a Renaissance masterpiece. The Argentine collector Georges Bemberg has brought together here the leading figures of modern art history, with a room dedicated to the painter Bonnard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Ch\u00e2teau d\u2019Eau<\/a> overlooks one end of the Pont-Neuf from its left bank. It was established by illustrious local photographer Jean Dieuzaide and is dedicated to photography. This is a place where enthusiasts are keen to present the great names in photography<\/strong> as well as emerging talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les Abattoirs museum<\/a> of modern and contemporary art took up residence in the former abattoir of the city of Toulouse and still bears its name. 3,000m\u00b2 of exhibition space is given over to contemporary art and exhibitions that take place throughout the year.
